Frequently Asked Questions
What are your favorite places?
I am in love with the Arctic and Antarctic and feel so drawn to these places for both their landscapes, and the creatures that call them home. I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to visit both Greenland and Antarctica, and these are my favorite places I have traveled to.
I also really, really love Russia, Peru, the Galapagos Islands, Oman, Alaska, the Alps.
What are your favorite cities?
I was born in San Francisco and that city will always hold the most special place in my heart. Otherwise, I love Hong Kong, Moscow, Istanbul.
What cameras do you use?
I shoot with a variety of cameras, and you’ll see photos on here shot on iPhone, GoPro, Polaroid, 35mm and 120mm film cameras and digital mirrorless and DSLRs.
As of April 2026 my go-to cameras are the Pentax UC-1, and Fuji Natura S for film and the Leica Q2 for digital.
How do you afford to travel so much?
I’m not secretly wealthy, and I don’t have a trust fund… I’ve worked to fund my own trips.
I may spend more than most do on travel, but experiences are a non-negotiable for me. Prioritizing travel means being frugal and deprioritizing other things that cost money—home ownership, nice/new cars, fine dining, or salon treatments.
What do you do for a living?
I am an Art Director, and I also create and license content for social media and marketing.
How did you get so many followers on Instagram?
In 2014, I started flying a drone (a DJI Phantom 1, lol). At the time, very few people were using drones creatively, and I was very likely the first “girl traveling the world taking selfies with a drone” (see press).
I don’t have much advice on how to grow a following on Instagram. It happened somewhat by accident, from doing something unique and creative, at a time when the platform actually rewarded that.
How many countries have you been to?
